| SylvanVale Wines reviewed by Wineland Magazine |

Wineland Magazine, who were represented at the SylvanVale food and wine pairing dinner hosted by The Devon Valley Hotel on May 6, 2009, reviewed two of SylvanVale’s finest wines – the Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2008 and the Family Reserve 2004.
The reviews below appeared in the June 2009 edition of Wineland:
SylvanVale Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2008
A fully matured sensation from the older Stellenbosch vineyards. Initially the screw top-wine had an overpowering effect on the nose, but after a few swirls in the glass it soon became very pleasing. Tropical fruit is evident when tasting, followed by citrus and a hint of freshly-cut grass.
SylvanVale Family Reserve 2004
Berries, strawberry jam and ripe prunes are distinctive in this Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Pinotage blend. The wine has slight earthy characters, but fruity flavours linger long and gently on the palate. This wine does not require further maturation and can be enjoyed immediately – with a cheese platter or a lamb stew. |
