INTERNATIONAL HOTEL GROUP EXPANDS GLOBAL REACH INTO SOUTH AFRICA
Published in Web Press Release - 17 November 2009

In a significant development for South African travel and tourism, the Preferred Hotel Group, a global leader in the hospitality industry with more than 700 members in over 75 countries, has appointed several new members in various African locations.

The first hotels in Africa to be included in the Summit Hotels & Resorts brand, which is part of the Preferred Hotel Group, are The Sarova Stanley in Nairobi, Kenya; Carlton Madagascar in Antananarivo, Madagascar; Cape Royale in Cape Town, South Africa; The Devon Valley Hotel in Stellenbosch, South Africa; and Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa in Somerset West, South Africa.

Summit Hotels & Resorts is a collection of distinctive hotels and resorts sharing the common threads of excellence, culture and a commitment to superb hospitality.

“We are serious about Africa,” comments Jose Ventura, Africa regional director for the Preferred Hotel Group. “Africa has some truly unique destinations which have attracted our group here, especially the South African hotels so well located for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. We are committed to South Africa beyond the world cup because of the unique experience it offers tourist and leisure travellers on the African continent. In the Western Cape, the combination of local cuisine, world-class wines and beautiful locations is a big draw card for our global client base.”

One of the key benefits of being a Preferred Hotel member is that guests are connected with independent hotels through the sophisticated network of Preferred brands, which also offers guests value-added membership programmes, including the Preferred Golf Club programme.
“We are very privileged that The Devon Valley Hotel and Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa have both been recognised and selected by Preferred Hotels in the first stage of their expansion into Africa,” says Craig Seaman, MD of Louis Group Hotels, Spas & Vineyards. “This confirms that our hotels offer guests world-class hospitality.”

Given the acclaim Rosé received from judges that concluded tastings for Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show this week, it is comforting to note that SylvanVale also grows a Cabernet Sauvignon block dedicated solely to producing grapes for its Dry Cabernet Rosé - much needed individual attention in the rumoured rise of the Rosé.
